The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is the state’s largest unit. The brigade is located in more than 17 Idaho communities and has subordinate units in two states: Idaho and Nevada. The unit is organized as a mobile brigade combat team with three mobile infantry battalions, along with organic fires, sustainment and engineer capabilities. Since 2001, the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team has deployed twice to Iraq, completed multiple National Training Center and Joint Readiness Training Center rotations and trained around the country and world.

The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is headquartered in Boise, Idaho, on Gowen Field.
1-148th Field Artillery Regiment
The 1-148th Field Artillery Regiment is a self-propelled field artillery battalion, providing indirect fire support to the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team. The regiment is headquartered in Pocatello with units stationed in Boise, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Rexburg and Rigby.
1-116th Cavalry Regiment
The 1-116th Cavalry Regiment is a mobile infantry battalion with a headquarters company, three rifle companies, a multi-purpose company and a combat logistics company. The battalion is headquartered in Lewiston and has units stationed in Grangeville, Lewiston, Orofino, Post Falls and St. Anthony.
2-116th Cavalry Regiment
The 2-116th Cavalry Regiment is a mobile infantry battalion with a headquarters company, three rifle companies, a multi-purpose company and a combat logistics company. The battalion is headquartered in Caldwell and has units stationed in Boise, Burley, Caldwell, Emmett and Nampa.
1-221st Cavalry Regiment (Nevada National Guard)
The 1-221st Cavalry Regiment is a mobile infantry battalion with a headquarters company, three rifle companies, a multi-purpose company and a combat logistics company. The entire battalion is stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada.
145th Light Support Battalion
The 145th Light Support Battalion supports the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team’s execution of operations by providing logistic, maintenance and medical support. The unit is headquartered in Jerome with companies stationed in Boise and Jerome.
Company M, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team
Company M, 116th Cavalry is the brigade’s reconnaissance company. It has organic strike, reconnaissance, electronic warfare and unmanned aircraft abilities. It is stationed in Boise on Gowen Field.
122nd Signal Company
The 122nd Signal Company is the brigade’s organic signal company. It is responsible for supporting command and control, radio communications and network communications for the brigade. It is stationed in Boise on Gowen Field.
126th Combat Engineer Company-Infantry
The 126th Combat Engineer Company-Infantry is the brigade’s organic engineer company. It is responsible for executing mobility, counter-mobility and survivability combat engineering tasks for the brigade. It is stationed in Mountain Home.
216th Military intelligence Company
The 216th Military Intelligence Company is the brigade’s organic military intelligence company. It is responsible for the collection and analysis of all forms of military intelligence. It is stationed in Boise on Gowen Field.
Command Team
Commander – Col. Jason Gracida
Col. Jason Gracida is the Brigade Commander of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, headquartered in Boise, Idaho. He commands a Brigade across 2 states including Idaho and Nevada. Gracida has served in the military since 1992, earning his commission as an armor officer in 2002. Most recently, Gracida served as director of operations for the Idaho Army National Guard. He previously served as the 116th CBCT’s executive officer from 2020 through 2023 and deployed with the brigade in 2004 and 2010. See Gracida’s biography here.
Command Sergeant Major – Command Sgt. Maj. Paul Maisey
Command Sgt. Maj. Paul Maisey is the senior enlisted leader of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team headquartered in Boise, Idaho. He serves as the commander’s principle advisor on all enlisted matters. Command Sgt. Maj. Maisey has served in the military since 1999. Most recently, he served as the 2-116th Cavalry Regiment command sergeant major. He has also served as the 116th CBCT operations sergeant. Command Sgt. Maj.
