CSM Maisey was born in Boise and raised in Nampa, Idaho. CSM Maisey graduated from Vallivue High School in 1998 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1999 and became qualified as an Indirect-fire Infantryman. He served with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines from 1999-2003 and deployed to South-East Asia on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2002, and for the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 2003, CSM Maisey enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard as an armor crewman in Company C, 2-116th Cavalry. In 2004 he deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom III as a fire team leader with Company B, 2-116th Cavalry, and in 2010 deployed to Iraq again for Operation New Dawn as a Platoon Sergeant with Company A, 2-116th Cavalry. In 2022 he deployed to multiple countries in the Middle East as the Command Sergeant Major of 2-116th Cavalry. He has completed multiple overseas training exercises including Thailand, Cambodia, and Romania. He has also completed two Joint Readiness Training Center and two National Training Center exercises. CSM Maisey has served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team since May 2025.
CSM Maisey holds a bachelor’s degree in military history. He is a graduate of the Mortar Fire Direction Center Course, Corporal’s Course, Warrior Leader Course, the Cavalry Scout Basic Non-commissioned officer’s course, the maneuver Senior Leader’s Course, the Bradley Master Gunner course, the Battle Staff Non-commissioned Officer’s Course, the Army National Guard Career Counselor Course, and the U.S. Army Sergeant’s Major Academy.
CSM Maisey’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Badge, and the Navy-Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon.
CSM Maisey and his wife Betsy have been married for 25 years. They live in Nampa, Idaho with their three children.
