“Hunt the Good Stuff” Journal Project

This project sponsored by the Resilience, Risk Reduction, and Suicide Prevention (R3SP) Program.

In an effort to increase our Service Member’s resiliency, our programs are starting this pilot project for the Idaho National Guard. This Hunt the Good Stuff journal activity has not been used in any other guard unit in the country. Our hope is to help improve resiliency, by retraining our Service Members to see the positives in every day life no matter how big or small. Please watch this short video of our R3SP Coordinator explaining the purpose and goal of this project. Below you will find instructions on how to complete the exercise. Finally, please send us your feedback on what you took away from the project and whether or not you found it to be useful in your daily life. (Note: This can also be a great practice to share with members of your family to promote healthier thinking patterns and to create a more positive home environment.)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE HTGS PROJECT:

  1. Take this 2-minute anonymous survey before starting the process. This will help us improve this initiative in the future and track data from our participants.

    2. Watch the introduction video below. SFC Robert Smith will explain the initiative and how this skill can be developed to improve your quality of life.

    3. Hunt the Good Stuff!– Practice this skill for 14 days and keep track in your R3SP journals. Each day, record 3 good things. Next to each positive event, write a reflection (at least one sentence).

    4. After 14 days, take this post-survey to help us see what impacts this has had on your mental fortitude.

BONUS: Anyone that completes both surveys will receive a gift bag. Please email a screenshot of your completed survey confirmation, with your UIC, last name, and where you would like your bag delivered (Gowen Bldg or Armory) to: family programsmarketing@gmail.com
